Did you notice the lack of our prom concert at the carnival on the Recreation Ground this year? Apparently some loyal fans even arrived armed with chairs and picnics ready to listen. We are sorry if anyone arrived and was left disappointed, but the carnival committee decided against a prom this year.
However, there will still be a prom concert this year, to be held at the Museum of East Anglian Life on Saturday 27th September 2008. The concert will be similar to previous years, with a traditional brass band concert with a 'Last Night of the Proms' style finale.
Although the venue for our prom concert this year is watertight, it may be draughty and therefore it is suggested to bring a thick jumper or a blanket if the evening is cool.
The proceeds of this concert will go towards the Museum's current fundraising initiative. See their website for further details... www.eastanglianlife.org.uk
Tickets will cost £5 and will be available in advance from the Tourist Information Centre or on the gate at the museum. The Museum will open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start, on Saturday 27th September 2008.

The Stowmarket Concert Band has been playing together since 1962. Many people are surprised to learn that a band with a world wide reputation comes from the small town of Stowmarket in sleepy Suffolk. However, over the years literally hundreds of young musicians have passed through it's ranks. Some play only for pleasure, but many others have gone on to have inspiring professional careers with some of the top musical organisations in the UK and abroad
Despite the name, the band is a brass band in the true English tradition. In the past trumpets and french-horns have been used.
This site shows some of the history and a vision of the future for the band.
